Light the Tree

Pack your Santa hat and put ‘Silent Night’ on repeat, we’re getting ready to kick of the season with Surrey’s annual Tree Lighting Festival! This free, family-friendly event is filled with amusement rides, a Holiday Market, and all things bright and merry. What’s in store at Surrey’s cheeriest festival? We’re glad you asked…

Bright Lights

One of the most magical aspects of the holiday season are all the beautiful bright lights. From intricate home-displays to streets lined with lights, there’s a certain glow that just warms your heart on a chilly evening. Now we’re not saying that the bigger the display, the more holiday spirit, but if that were the case, Surrey might just be the merriest city of all! The marquee event at Surrey’s Tree Lighting Festival is the official lighting of Surrey’s 60 foot Christmas Tree, which just so happens to be one of the largest in Canada! The lights illuminate at 6:30pm sharp, so join in on the countdown and basque in the beauty.

Merry Music

This year’s musical performances are fit for the season, as urban gospel and R&B singer Warren Dean Flandez will headline the Main Stage along with a 10 piece choir. Soul singer Dawn Pemberton, children’s performer Jessie Farrell, and indie soul-pop band Lovecoast round out the Main Stage performers.

Festive Activities

If it’s family fun and a whole lot of holiday cheer you’re searching for, Surrey’s Tree Lighting Festival is sure to get your heart bursting with all the holiday feels, no matter what the Winter season memories you hold dear to your heart. Partake in a little shinny, as sticks will be provided for some good, old fashioned road hockey, or bring the kiddos on the Mini Christmas Train. Take a stroll down memory lane and create holiday-themed crafts with the Surrey Art Gallery. If you’re a thrill seeker, the Holiday Fun Zone has amusement rides and a zipline!

If you’ve got a tot who’s been itching it sit on Santa’s lap, you’re in luck. Not only will THE Chris Cringle be making a cameo, he’ll be making himself available for photos, what a Saint!

Know a Little who loves a good tune? Sweet and soulful Jessie Ferrell will be performing her family friendly tunes on the stage, along with Rockin’ Robin & the Magical Tree.

Food Trucks

What event is complete without delicious treats to keep you warm? Snack on mini-donuts, or sip a Double Double from the Tim Horton’s Food Truck. Delicious and traditional Indigenous cuisine from Mr.Bannock, delicious mini donuts from Mr. Kens and the infamous Japa Dog are among many of the Food Trucks to choose from, but who says you have to pick just one?
